“Excellence should be evident and tangible everywhere. That is what we stand for at Amels.”
- Wim Schipper, Piping, Production
Is there a particular aspect of your work that you take pride in?
“Absolutely. When I take measurements for a pipe on board, record them carefully, bend the pipe in the workshop and then return to fit it, and it fits perfectly the first time, straight and true, that is a great feeling. That is craftsmanship.”

What makes the Amels 80 special to you?
“It is a completely new design, which always brings fresh challenges. The systems are similar in principle, but every new yacht requires new solutions. I am now working on the second Amels 80, and you can clearly see the improvements carried over from the first. It is special to witness that evolution up close.”
How do you feel when you see the yacht sailing?
“I think to myself, we did that. Seeing her out on the water fills me with pride. It is the moment that proves what we have achieved together.”
What do you hope people will feel when they step on board?
“That it has been built with quality. For me, everything must be neat and precise, even the parts you do not see. The pipes above the ceiling, for example, must be just as straight and tidy as the visible work. Excellence should be evident and tangible everywhere. That is what we stand for at Amels.”
